Bread Roll

Bread Roll is a crispy and an easy to cook recipe prepared using white or whole wheat bread. Generally, this bread roll is filled with yellow potato bhaji /Aloo subzi. You can prepare this dish for evening snacks or birthday parties.

Preparation Time –  10 mins

Cook Time – 15 mins

Total Time – 25 mins

Ingredients:

  • 3-4 medium size boiled Potatoes
  • Slices of Brown bread / Wheat bread (1 Pack)
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • 1 teaspoon mustard Seeds
  • 4-5 finely chopped Green Chillies
  • Finely Chopped Coriander leaves
  • 6-7 Curry leaves
  • Oil for deep frying purpose
  • Salt to taste

Serves:  2-3 persons

Directions / Procedure:

A. Process to prepare Bread Roll filling

  1. First boil potato in a pressure cook and cool it down.
  1. Now peel the potato and mash then by using potato masher in a bowl and keep aside.
  1. Heat the oil in Kadai or pan on low flame gas & add mustard seed, cumin seed, curry leaves and green chillies, saute for 2 minutes.
  1. Add finely mashed potatoes and add salt to taste. Stir the mixture well. Cover with lid and cook for about 7-8min on low flame gas. Stir the mixture once in between while cooking.
  2. Garnish with finely chopped coriander and keep aside

B. Process to prepare Bread Roll

  1. Take one slices of white bread, cut the crusts of bread from all sides
  1. Take 1 glass water in deep plate or bowl, dip the bread slice in water and take it out immediately.
  1. Keep the bread on your palm and press gently to remove the excess water. While pressing make sure that bread does not break.
  1. Now place the potato filling in centre of bread and gently roll the bread. While rolling, carefully join the bread edges and seal them properly.
  1. Like this, make all bread rolls and keep aside.

C. Process to Frying Bread Roll

  1. Simultaneously, heat the oil in a deep-frying pan / kadai on low flame gas.
  2. Keep the flame medium, it cooks little bit from one side then flip the bread roll and fry it from other side. Fry the bread roll till it becomes reddish brownish from both sides.
  3. Remove it from oil and drain the excess oil carefully. Keep it on a kitchen tissue paper.
  4. Garnish with coriander leaves if you like and serve hot with tomato sauce or green chutney

Tips / suggestions:

  • Do not add water for cooking
  • Add ginger garlic paste as per your choice
  • Add another veggie like carrot, green peas, cabbage in the mixture
